Why the International Alliance of Female Copywriters?

Hi, I’m Beverly Bergman, Founder and CEO of the International Alliance of Female Copywriters (IAFC).
I’m a professional copywriter, who after more than twenty years of marketing in corporate America, decided to create a business for myself doing what I love. I wasn’t going back to a J.O.B. again. As I formed my business, I found that there was very little information about women copywriters. Men seemed to dominate any media I could find about the copywriting business. Men dominated lists of top copywriters.
Yet I knew there were probably an in equal number of women working in the field and I know that women are as skilled at writing copy as men are (or maybe more so. I personally think we make better writers because we’re more intuitive). Was this a holdover from MadMen days, the stereotypical Madison Avenue ad guy from the 60s? Where were all the women writers?
I became determined to raise the profile of women copywriters everywhere by creating an organization to empower other women copywriters after discovering that although being a professional copywriter is a lucrative and viable career for women of all ages and at all stages of their lives, there was also not a viable support network in place. Smart women know they need the support of others who are like-minded, other women.
I created the IAFC to support professional women copywriters and to encourage women who have talent and an interest in doing so to make writing copy their vocation. Moreover, I want to support your interests in personal development in any way possible. I’m sure someone more famous than I said this: As we raise our standard, we raise the standard of our children and their children and the rest of the world.
If you’re feeling uncertain about what you’re supposed to be doing next in life and you feel a little lost and frightened — you’re seeking VISION.
If you want to share your gifts and make money, but you don’t have an audience of people to extend them to — you’re seeking CONNECTION.
If you understand that marketing your copywriting business has been transformed by social media, video, and new opportunities and restrictions cropping up every day but you feel overwhelmed and have no idea who to trust or where to start learning what works, let alone implement it — you’re seeking DIRECTION.
If any of the above bullet points are true for you, then you are in the right place. The International Alliance of Female Copywriters was designed especially for you. Here you will:
Inspire and grow your expansive vision of what’s possible for your business and personal growth.
Establish real connections within a powerful and supportive global community of women who share the same concerns and needs as you.
Access immediate direction to achieve balance and thrive in your copywriting business -- and create real results.
Do you ever wonder how other women are able to do it while you’re still struggling? How do they find the courage to follow their dreams? What makes them different?
The truth is — there is nothing special about them. They’re not smarter than you are, they don’t have more education, they didn’t come from a better family, and they’re not prettier or taller. The difference between a person who dreams of being successful and one who has achieved success is sometimes just one step. It’s a decision you make somewhere along the way in life. It may be a courageous step involving a difficult and deeply rooted decision. It often comes down to having a big enough “why” or reason to motivate you, to find the courage to take that first small step. What is your why?
The strength and power that one’s “why” holds is believed to be the reason that disadvantaged individuals are often able to achieve such remarkable success. They may have not had most of the advantages that others have had; and that actually propelled them and gave them a bigger why, with more determination. Sometimes it sparks a competitive resolve within us. I’m not a competitive person by nature, but perhaps a need within me to prove that I could be my own boss and hold my own with any copywriter out there drove me to examine all this a bit more closely.
Feeling that the time was long overdue for women copywriters to raise their visibility and get their due recognition in a world seemingly long dominated by men (for no apparent reason); I sought to empower other women copywriters to join this field and gain the attention they deserve for the significant role they play in advancing business worldwide. Where would commerce be without written content to promote the products and services that make the world go around? Where would we be without the feminine viewpoint and power in our marketing materials? Women now control approximately eighty-five percent of consumer buying decisions. So who better to write the copy that sells these goods and services?
This is a great career for women and I’m on a mission to encourage and empower those who have an interest in it to grow and become all that they can be. I hope you’ll join me on this exciting journey!
To Your Infinite Success,
